This Privacy Policy explains how Safe2Drive Ontario collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services.

This Privacy Policy explains how Safe2Drive Ontario (“Safe2Drive,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Safe2Drive Ontario mobile application and related services (the “App”).

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

The App is intended for use by:

  • Students enrolled in Safe2Drive Ontario driving lesson or driver education programs;
  • Driving instructors;
  • School administrators and authorized staff.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information needed to operate the App and provide driving school services.

Information You Provide

We may collect the following information when you create an account, use the App, or communicate through the App:

  • Name;
  • Email address;
  • Phone number;
  • Password or login credentials;
  • Student profile information;
  • Package or program enrollment details;
  • Lesson dates, lesson hours, and scheduling information;
  • In-car lesson sheets;
  • Skill evaluations, grades, and instructor notes;
  • Certification status and progress records;
  • Digital signatures from students and instructors;
  • Messages sent between students, instructors, and administrators;
  • Invoice, billing, payroll, or payment-status records used for school administration.

Information Collected Automatically

We may collect basic technical and usage information needed for the App to function properly, such as:

  • Login/session information;
  • Authentication tokens;
  • App activity required to provide features;
  • Device or technical information used for security, troubleshooting, and performance.

We do not use third-party advertising tracking SDKs, and we do not track users across other apps or websites.

Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect precise device location.

The App does not collect end-user credit card, debit card, or banking details directly through the App.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage user accounts;
  • Authenticate users and protect account security;
  • Provide in-car lesson sheets and skill evaluations;
  • Track lesson progress, certification status, and licensing milestones;
  • Capture student and instructor signatures;
  • Generate lesson records and PDFs;
  • Manage scheduling and lesson requests;
  • Support messaging between students, instructors, and administrators;
  • Maintain billing, payroll, and administrative records;
  • Communicate with users about lessons, accounts, and App-related matters;
  • Maintain records required to operate a driving school;
  • Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and business obligations;
  • Protect the safety, security, and integrity of the App.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for third-party advertising.

4. How Information Is Shared

We only share information when necessary to operate the App and provide driving school services.

Authorized Users

Student records may be visible to authorized instructors and administrators. Students can view their own account, lesson, certification, and scheduling information.

Service Providers

We may use trusted third-party service providers to operate, host, store, and manage App data. These may include cloud hosting providers, database providers, and Airtable for student record management and synchronization.

These service providers may only process information as needed to provide services to us and are expected to protect the information they handle.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, government request, or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Safe2Drive Ontario, our users, or others.

Business Transfers

If Safe2Drive Ontario is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or business transfer, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

5. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information.

This may include:

  • Secure login and authentication;
  • Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS;
  • Access controls for authorized users;
  • Limited access to records based on user role;
  • Security practices designed to protect App data from unauthorized access.

No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. International Data Processing

Some service providers may store or process information on servers located outside Ontario or outside Canada. In those cases, information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is stored or processed.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to:

  • Provide the App and driving school services;
  • Maintain student, lesson, certification, and administrative records;
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, and record-keeping obligations;
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements;
  • Protect the security and integrity of the App.

When information is no longer required, we will delete, anonymize, or securely retain it as required by applicable law and business record obligations.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may request to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete your account or certain personal information;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Please note that deleting certain information or withdrawing consent may limit your ability to use the App or may affect our ability to provide driving school services.

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at info@safe2driveontario.ca.

When we receive an account deletion request, we will delete or anonymize personal information where possible. Some records may be retained where required for legal, regulatory, accounting, safety, certification, or legitimate business record-keeping purposes.

10. Children and Teen Users

The App may be used by teenagers enrolled in Ontario driver education or driving lesson programs.

We collect student information only as needed to provide driving school services, manage lessons, track progress, and support certification-related records. Where required, use of the App may involve the consent or involvement of a parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 for purposes unrelated to driving education services. If you believe information has been collected improperly, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update it, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above.

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
